3D Match Moving
Nuke 3D & Camera Projection
3D Match moving is the glue which joins the CGI world with the film world, making everything look crisp and smooth.

3D Equalizer
In this weeks lesson we were introduced to 3D equaliser. We added shortcuts and learnt how to track points separating foregrounds, backgrounds and middle ground. We then got all track points and exported into Nuke.

Assessment 2: Project 2
For assignment 2, the task was to record our own footage of a scene; then do what we did for assignment 1 but with more depth adding objects into the scene. Unfortunately I wasn't able to film my own footage as I was in quarantine due to Covid-19, so I was given some footage to use. Below are three clips that I created along with a breakdown of what I did for this project.
Rendered Clips:
For my first clip I had 'positioning' in mind. I wanted to place objects within the scene where it looked natural to the eye, I placed two box's and some bin bags within the scene; as well as the playing cubes on the table. All the objects I used was downloaded from
For my second clip I imported the rig I downloaded from Mixamo.com which I used for assignment 1 in my Performance Animation module.
For my last clip I wanted to go for a look where the scene looked completely natural so I placed a chair and table which I downloaded from
Breakdown:
First I imported the footage once I understood the motion of the camera I began camera tracking with taking manual points.
Then solved the camera focal length and lens distortion through parameter adjustments.
I then lined up the camera to the scene I was using, then placed the test objects to check the tracking quality. Once I was happy I exported the 3D equalizer camera then matched the frame to the sequence.
Then mark in use image sequence
Following on I went into line up view to check the 3d points and survey the points on the floor
Then I placed 3d cones on 3d points to check the tracking quality and depth, just like I did with assignment 1.
Then selected the camera and created a image plane and selected the sequence.
I then imported the model/objects I wanted to use for each scene. For example, the robot rig I used in my Performance Animation module, table, chair etc...
Then set the grid and matched in camera view, after I created plane to show the shadow of the objects I was placing in the scene and rendered in .png sequence.
I then imported the footage sequence into Nuke and then set project settings.
I used grade node to enhance the alpha channel so the shadows appeared darker in see in final output.
Finally I rendered the sequence in .mov format, I followed these steps for each clip I rendered.
