Major Project

I decided to develop 'Idea 2', what I had planned in mind was to create a birds eye view over looking the entire scene; then a camera change and pan around a waterfall then slowly with camera movement show the rest of the scene in detail. To slowly transitioning to another angle and show the house which is in the scene.

Colour Pallet

For this project I was looking to achieve a summers day vibe, and created two slightly different colour pallets. This way it'd give me more freedom to use a combination of colours to fit the desired look I'm aiming to achieve even though there isn't a major difference between the two pallets I've created.

Draft Scene 1

After rendering the draft I came up with a few points on what I could do to improve the scene.

1) 1.10 add some smoke exhaling from the chimney of the house

2) Before the hot air balloon shot, show a few close up shots of the basket in detail

3) When hot air balloon is taking off /flying in the air, add some flames to replicate how it would look in real life

4) Change leaf texture of balloon, and then add some strands of vines hanging off the balloon similar to the texture I created for the balloon in the draft shot.

Draft Scene 2

After rendering the second draft I came up with a few points on what I could do to improve the scene.

1) Balloon shot can be longer between 10-20 seconds; add close up shots.

2) Extend the opening scene by a minimum of 5-10 seconds; by adding some pan shots.

3) Add another shot of the house about 10seconds long.

4) Smoke coming out of chimney instead of going down the chimney.

5) Change texture/design of the hot air balloon.

Final Scene

After rendering the third draft I came up with a point on what I could do to improve the scene.

1) Mainly the house, I wasn't happy with it so I decided to do some re texturing and also add some other variables to the house, additionally I wanted the sizing to be more realistic so I increased the scale of the house.

Breakdown

Layout Modelling

Started modelling a basic environment

Started modelling the house

Slowly adding bricks to the roof for details

Creating simple textures using Substance Painter

Creating textures using Substance Painter

Texturing river bridge

Added texture to sphere physical sky light to add a nice background to the render

Modelled a river bridge

Used a sphere dome to create natural sky light

Texturing floor using Substance Painter

Added texture to the ground

Created grass using xGen and used the paint tool from the content browser

Then began painting the grass

Then added green material for the grass

Above is how the scene looked once I added the grass in desired areas

I then downloaded a tree from CGTrader

Then imported the file into the scene

Then duplicated trees on the ground, to show trees on render without making the scene heavy on the viewport.

Added house into the scene

I then adjusted the scale of the brush

I then converted the grass paint to polygons

Then duplicated in the areas I wanted grass within the scene

Then added flowers and plants using Maya content browser

Then exported it on .ASS asset format file

Then duplicated the trees in the chosen areas within the scene

I then created various rocks and placed them within the scene

Modelled a hot air balloon

Created a waterfall partition between the rocks

I then did some changes to the design of the balloon

Applied green texture to vines

Applied cylindrical UV to the top part of the air balloon

Added vines for the strands holding the balloon and basket

Adding materials to texture the baloon

Cylindrical UV once applied

Rotated texture 90° and repeat UV 3 times

Simulation

Create 3D Container with a volume emitter to create a waterfall.

Change gravity to minus -9.8

Up the rate to make the liquid flow faster

Place the waterfall within the scene

Add animation on noise

Change base resolution quality

Enable liquid simulation

Scaled up the width of the waterfall

Making a river by creating a poly plane, and applying noise texture on bump map.

Changing data to get water waves.

Rendering & Compiling

Placed the camera within the scene and created the animation

Picture3.png

Created another key on frame 200 after moving camera

Picture5.png

Rendered .jpg sequence

Picture10.png

Added the relevant sequences to the timeline to compile the footage together.

Picture2.png

Selected key animation on key 1

Picture4.png

Adjusted render settings

Picture9.png

Created composition, imported clips into Adobe After Effects

Sorted sequence clips and then rendered

House Alteration After Feedback

Started making alterations to the house I already modelled

Creating simple like textures using Substance Painter

Adding wood like texture to the house

Creating more textures with Substance Painter
